You know that you can convert MP3s to WAVs easily right?

but they take up a bloody lot more room. mp3 compression on your audio would cut you filesizes nearly in half

Xing has an MPEG encoder plugin for premiere. It should also encode MP3s. go to http://www.xingtech.com/video/mpeg/encoder/premiere.html

If you have a good audio editing program look for an option to select the codec you want to use. Then select MPEG Layer 3 as the codec and you should be able to save in WAV format using MP3 compression.

You guys are not getting the point. He wants to DIRECTLY import an MP3 into Premiere. NOT convert it to some .WAV 10 times the size of the original file. He wants to have it just use the MP3 file. Personally, I don't mind converting them to .WAVs, but sometimes it can be a pain in the @$$ and NJR is right, a plug-in for that would be nice.

Yes, with my method you get a WAV that is in MP3 size. Since it is a WAV, Adobe Premiere will except it.
