I am aiding in a film which requires the windows of large buildings to shatter via the telekinetic forces of an actor. Cars, also, will have their windshields and such shattered. I was thinking of an "expulsion" type effect, where the glass flies out from the building onto the street. Any suggestions?
Rent "Lifeforce". You can actually see the action of the pinball launcher type hammers which shatter the glass when the naked alien vampire chick does the same thing with her mind. These hammers are at the bottom of the plate glass windows and should have been out of shot. But, lucky for you they weren't.
the hammers were metal kind-of spike things that shot into the glass when released, a little like the hammer of a pistol.
maybe if you had a fake sheet of glass, with a small hole in the middle, thread a piece of thin wire through the hole, on one end tie a circular piece of plexiglass, then when you pull the wire, the plexiglass will break out the windows.
