I posted about 4 months ago the same post, and a guy (sorry, don't remember his name) told me he would explain it to me when he had free time. I've had no answer from him and I'm really interrested in knowing how to do this effect with MSP

Oh my gosh, that was me! I'm sooo sorry, I forogt. Anyway to make a lightsaber in MSP's Video Paint program, simply film your subject with a stick, then when you import the footage into MSP VP, select the color you want the wide (colored) part of the blade to be. Set your settings to whatever size you need (I generally shoot where I need a 30x30 size) Then make soft edge=50 and transparency (depending on YOUR scene) anywhere from 50 to 85. Once you have drawn this over your stick (Using the line tool, not free hand) you are ready to do the inside white part to accomplish this, goto your paintbrush toolbox and select color then use the ULEAD COLOR PICKER to click on your color you used for the blade then drag it over towards the white area and select the whitest it can go (This is very easy, just hard to explain in words) Next, set the width and height to (if you used 30x30) 5x5 (experiment once again with the width and height) then use the straight line tool to add the "Glowing" part of the saber in the middle. Now, depending on your skill, you should have a lightsaber in your scene. If it doesn't look right, click the NEW button and start over (with a little practice, they look REAL!)

Sorry Once Again,
MovieDirector
