The decapitation question should be taken to the make-up forum. When you take it there, tell me does the person's head need to do anything(ex: eyes roll back in head)? |

Wouldnt there be a way to do this w/o make up, I.E. all fx, i.e. after effects? Id like to know how to do it the known make up way, as i have no money to blow on make up. (I would if i could, but i cant) |

The bullet trails are CG animated. They were also used in Black Mask without the bullet time effects of the Matrix. I have no idea how to help you create them, though. I guess I shouldn't have replied, but I had to plug Black Mask. =) |

Really, you can't do a decap. completely with Cg and expect it to look remotely lifelike. You could maybe make the head separate and a cartoony spray of blood but not much. IT will look very cheesy. The only blood you could really do with CG and expect to look reall are some of the short blood sprays like the one in saving private ryan. If you can't do it, then don't do it. Don't be lazy and say, we'll do it all with CG. Sorry to be a little rude but really. |

I am filming my first movie next week and the end has the main character decapitating the villain. I am not sure what we will do yet. We may have the first shot of the character swinging the sword then cut to an over the shoulder shot and have him stop at the neck, then cut to maybe a false head falling (which we may or may not do depending on how corny it looks) anyways then it will show the characters head laying on the ground. This part we are definatley doing. I live at the beach so we will bury the villain up to his neck and flatten the sand out perfectly. Then he will turn his head completly sideways. We will put a bunch of fake guts around this neck to make it look like the head is laying on its side on the ground for the last shot. And then if you care it fades to a long shot of the protagonist walking down a dusty alley by the beach with fog in the air and a sword in his hand. |

That's all ya had to say Well what kind of fake really. With CG you could(if possible, I don't know jack about the stuff) seperate the head from the body and make it fly through the air. You can animate(draw, whatever) a cheesy looking stump at the neck and animate the blood the way you want it to look. Make it look very animated and make it unnatural. This probably won't help too much. Sorry, I don't do CG. Hope you get an idea. It shouldn't be too hard since you want it to look fake. |

Not the question being asked, I know but... One really cool cheap way I used to make a fake head was I went to a wig shop and bought a styrofoam head wig stand off them. It only cost me £1 ($1.60) From there I added a few extra features using clay. Then to stop it getting crushed or broken off I layered over it with bathroom sealant (its waterproof too) from there it just needs painting and a hair transplant and your ready to roll!!!Thats the only legal version I know!! |

well, the cgi bullet trails could just be done in max or something similar, it may just be objects with a transparent and highly refractive material over the background video...i never tried it, but it may give a similar end result. play with it until you're contentas for the heads, they made lifecasts and copies for SH, made them extremely accurate. i think there was an article on some of SH effects in makeup artist mag a few months ago makeupmag.com i think, maybe theres something on the web
later Tom
try searching too, theres been a ton of both of these questions since the movies came out (as it seems, this is always the case )
