I would like to see them, but i dont have a cable modem or dedicated line, my download speed is pretty shocking and its not possible to download anything over 4 megs because it will take hours. I am sure im not the only one in this situation. anyways just thort I would try.Dale Jenner |

Another thing, alot of you guys make great looking clip and compres them to short sizes. When I experiment with high content footage and compress them the my smaller sized file tend to have lost so much quality that I refuse to post them on the board. 10 Meg I've found is a file size that keeps the good quality of my 2.5-2.8 minute footage. I've experimented with motion MPEG compression and quicktimes Sorenson video CODEC and have mixed results. If someone knows a trick or two that's really worked for them and didn't realise that not everyone knows this trick please be a hero and come forward and help us set a current standard for great compression every time. Between all of our experiences here we might learn something as a group that may have evaded us as individuals. ur best shot for the overall best quality/size mix is probably mpeg. there really is no other option...most other stuff isnt as universal either, so theres a good chance of incompatabilities with other peoples comps. that or quicktime...but i havent had much luck with quicktime...im not a big fan of it.------------------ "to be, or not to be? ...not to be!" -Last Action Hero

Dale, what clip do you want as a smaller file. I could compress it and put it on the web for you. I'm on a cable modem so downloading is no problem for me, but I really do feel bad for all you dial-up users that can't download these huge files. Just tell me which clip you want compressed, how small you want it, and I'll be happy to encode it as an MPEG and post it up on XOOM or something. |

I've had good results with quicktime and sorenson video. But that works best when there is not alot of motion. Like when only one small item in the frame moves, soreson rocks. But for high motion compression mpeg has worked best fo me as well.------------------ "I like to see things as I remember them, not as they were." -Bill Pullman "Lost Highway" |

actually, although everyone shudders at the idea...realvideo is actually pretty good. i know, there is so much stuff of craptastic quality, however, if you encode it for say a dsl/cable/t1 connection, it will look pretty dang good and half the size of an mpeg. With such a case, you don't have to set it to stream either...just let people download it view it from their hard drive. an example http://www.hist.umn.edu/~hist1012/opium/drugfight.rm or http://www.hist.umn.edu/~hist1012/opium/drugfight.ram for those who can stream it.user: hist1012 pass: world [This message has been edited by Elurew (edited 03-25-2000).] |

hey, try divx its a very nice codec based on Microsofts mpeg4, and it compresses smaller than mpeg with greater quality.[This message has been edited by wonderbread (edited 03-25-2000).] |

can't you compress the file into a .zip file so that people can just unzip it?------------------ http://go.to/jacksloan Boogie nights! Aint no doubt, we are here to party! Heatwave - Boogie Nights

I've found that Real Video is great for video but it ruins the sound horribly.------------------ "I like to see things as I remember them, not as they were." -Bill Pullman "Lost Highway" |

I haven't had any luck with RealEncoder... Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I never get smooth video. Any tips? So, Elurew, you liked my trailer? Or not? Isaiah |
