I need to get a wide-angle lens and maybe a blue or gradiant filter for my Hi-8 sony camcorder. Anyone know where I can purchase this type of thing online...?
How much do these things cost, anyway? Less than a hundred dollars, I hope I hope?

Hey,

you need to get a wide angle convertor for your camera because it doesn't support interchangeable lenses. they are basically like a filter, they screw on, but they give you the wide angle shot. Those are a little pricey...they run anywhere from $200-$500. The one I am getting for my camera is like $350 cause I have a GL1. As for the filter...you can purchase that at any regular camera shoo...photo or video...those are deffinitly less expennsive...a regular UV filter is like $12 so a gradient blue would be no more then $25. Try WWW.BHPHOTOVIDEO.COM and see what they have...Hope this helps!

Can you used two filters/converters at once? (ex. a wide-angle converter & a polarizing filter)

Okay, since you're only using a Sony Hi8, you're in luck. Sony sells a .6x wide angle lens for $60. It's threaded for all recent Sony Hi8 camcorders (37mm thread). You can then add filters on top of the wide angle lens. However, don't put a filter between the camera and the wide angle. This will cause vignetting (I think that's the term, anyways, close enough), where the corners of your picture are black.
