Topic: How to make Video File Small

Hey,
I have the trailer to my film all ready for you guys to see, but I need to know how to compress it enough so its only like 6-8 megs. I assume this is where mpeg comes into play, right? I want it to run at at least 27 fps by the way. If anyone knows how to do this or what program i can DL i would be much appreciative.

If you want to make it small and quality isn't an issue than you should get Real Encoder to compress it in Real Player Format. www.real.com MPEG is a pretty good choice because the quality is very good with okay file sizes. I don't know where to download it but bbMPEG is an alright program. There are others out there but I haven't really done much with MPEGs.

Compression is a funny thing. Real Video (Encoder) is good for small files but so-so quality. It's not so much what application that you buy, it's what CoDec you compress with. MJPEG-B (Motion-JPEG B) is a great CoDec for transporting files. It will cut your file size (usually) about in half. But the quality is still great. Sorenson video CoDec is one of the best. It does great compressions and keeps the files small. It's one of my favorites here at work. It's great for websites and CDROM's. You can get both in an application called Media Cleaner Pro. It's kind of expensive, but well worth it if you're trying to me a real movie maker. There are lots of other applications you can use for compression. But make sure that they include either MJPEG-B or Sorenson. I can't remember if QuickTime Pro includes both, it might. It's less expensive than Media Cleaner and actually allows you to do some light editing. ------------------

where to download you ask..
try this place http://www.download.com use there search function, type in something like "mpeg decoder" and hit search and you will get a few programs to help you on your way *S*------------------
