I am making a world war II movie called "It rained till they came back" and am facing difficulties finding prop weapons from that period that I can afford on my tight budget. Can anyone help me?

hi, how are ya?

what types of guns are you loking for? if you search the the boards you may find more info. uh, depending on where you live, you may be able to go to a gun store or show and get stocks and that kind of thing pretty cheap, then just get some pipe and build the rest of the gun.

check out "the theater props handbook" and "the propbuilders molding and casting handbook" both by Thurston James, theres a nice section on building a Thompson SMG in the the theater book, maybe that will help you out.

Just buy two or three very realistic guns for the closer shots and give all your other actors the ones that don't look as real.

You could make them out of wood or cardboard.

I've got a friend that's a WWII reenactor, and he's got a 1943 sniper rifle that cost him about $400 U.S.! That's probobly WAY over your budget!

You could also just use footage you film at a reenactment.

Hope that helps ya'.

I'm not sure about good "vintage weapoons" but I would try using Airsoft guns http://www.redwolfairsoft.com

I am working on my own World War II film. Just get a WWII reenactment group to do the movie. They have uniforms weapons. Maybe even some armory. Contact me if you want to talk about some stuff at wwiifilm@juno.com

I am so pleased with your help chaps, but I forgot to mention that I am focusing on the British army and they used Lee Enfield Mk4. rifles. Any more help?
