Ok,
For my movie there is a scene where the 2 main characters are driving their car on the road, the tire blows and the car goes out of control...The way I was going to do this is have the driver do a small swirve....then do close ups of each persons frightened face, then fade out to the car on the side of the road close to a gaurd rail with the flat tire. Doing it that way will give the idea, but it won't be as exciting...is there any other SAFE way to have this done? I just got premiere and after effects...premier I am learning, but after effects I am clueless...I want to leatn it...I know AVID and Media 100 really well so premier shouldn't be hard to adapt to...anyways...if anyone has any ideas or suggestions wether during production or in post it would greatly be aprreciated...! Thank you! oh yeah one more thing...the hardest part of making movies....is chosing your companies name hehe! I've been looking for a name for months! Any ideas? Thanks again!

What do you mean with flattening a tire? Is it the "explosion" your after or the flattening itself? In that case Iīd do it by compositing a photoshop-made fume using AE. You could always flatten the tire for real if youīre close to a gas station that supply compressed air to refill it with . Thatīll do only for afterwards, when the car has stopped, as I really donīt recommend driving with flat tires. Am I wasting your time here? It sure feels so.

As for the company name, we call ourselves "Roaded Coon" as that was a piece of text out of a poem that just sounded cool. There is a company in Sweden called Flatfish v8. Itīs named after what one of the employees sketched on his notebook in boredom, while they were tearing their hair off finding a name. I always liked irregular names, like "A cat and his modern art", "Jinx Minks" or "Several spikes" and stuff.

hmm, about the fx..
i can think of several diffrent ways to achive the effect you're looking for.. one is.. make it the way you explained and make sure to have a good sound that explains to the viewer that the tire actually goes flat *explodes* or what ever.
kind of like this..
car comes driving - tire explodes *sound* - car gets out of hand for the driver - closeup of actors looking scared - driver trying to get control over the car - car slides around to a halt - closeup of a flat tire.
this is just one of probably 100's of ways to solve the scene, this one is probably one of the safest ways.
I hope this helps or gives you some new ideas.
