I usually manually advance the frame controls at the bottom of the 3ds screen manually as I make the changes... probably not the correct or best way but it works for me... makes me feel like I'm going claymation though.

if you have animated the scene, when you go to render, make sure you set the render frames or whole sequence option or whatever it is.

it probably is...its probably in the help files too.
thing is though, i loaned the book to my uncle who loves to fiddle around with that stuff, and he's on the other side of the state. and i deleted every help file from my computer so i could have more hard drive space.
real bright eh? guess i shoudlve saved max.hlp's

Ahh geez.. not this argument again....

How can you afford it? Simple. You don't. You don't steal. Use Blender, and be honest.

so you're saying i'm not honest?
hey, don't get to personal there sausage boy. and another thing, blender is shareware, and isn't the best program.

blender's is free, in its basic form, you can buy "expanded features" which is probably where the good stuff is.

low budget can be interpreted in different ways, but technically you cant make any money off the student version anyway. if you have tons of free time you could probably get a good result with blender, i think it has potential, but i like max's interface, once you get used to it its great.

oh well, did what i said before help any?

yup it did. thanks dude!

are you sure about blender though? several times i've gone to d/l it and it said it was shareware. still, you're right about max...much better, more powerful.
it's a real man's program!! heheh!

Am I saying you're not honest? Well it depends. Do you copy software? Yes? Then Sausage boy says yes.

If no, then of course not.

As for Blender, as it was pointed out, it is actually freeware. No component is Shareware. The C-Key is a commercial addon.

Here I go again....

Well, I can't afford a Porche 911, so, I guess I am allowed to steal it. Right? Wrong! If you can't afford it, YOU DON'T GET IT!!! What makes you think you're so special that you can get things without paying for them??? It is the smae thing if you steal a car or some software. Stealing is stealing. It really annoys me when people say that they are justified in stealing just because they can't afford it!!! If you feel that you are justified, then you are SPOILED!!! You think that you can do whatever the hell you want!!! But sooner or later, it will catch up with you. If you get caught, you will be thrown in jail, just as if you stole a car, because YOU DID STEAL!!! Try this, work hard for something, and then PAY for it!!! You can't pay??? Then SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!! If it is that important to you, then buy it like everybody else!!!!! Just because you are 15, or whatever, doesn't give you the right to steal. Otherwise, if you want to steal, go ahead. You'll just end up in a cell next to "Bubba" who has been waiting for a fresh piece of @$$ for a while. Have fun in prison. Because either you will get caught yourself, one of your "friends" will rat you out (don't think it won't happen), or even Dale, is well within his legal rights of giving the FBI your IP address so they can haul you off to jail. If you are going to do this stealing (which I recommend you don't), leave it off of the LikeAStory forums. I don't know if your parents died or left you or something, but I have NO idea where you learned that it is okay to steal. Because it is not. Don't have money??? GET A JOB.

This may be pretty late but hope I can still help .
I don't care how you got the software so everyone should just chill .
In 3D Studio Max
in the rendering options window , where it says render form frame _ to _ .
input the segment that you want .
then click near the bottom wher it says files , it will bring up a window in which you can choose where to save it and what kind of movie to save it as ( avi. , mpg , .mov ) . After all that just hit the button that says render and it will start.
it should bring up two windows , one monitering the progress per frame and total , another that shows the current frame rendering in sync with the rendering .

a little tip , if rendering large scenes , close the window with the current frames picture ( the one that refreshes as the rendering goes on to show whats happening )it will still be renedering but will go a little faster . the only downside is that you won't be able to catch any mess-ups while its rendering that wastes time .

sorry about the spelling and length , I'm only 15
