has anyone had any experience with any screenwriting software? i need it to write my story in the proper format, and i thought software would be the way to go. maybe if it had extensive info about plot, character development etc. (screenwriting utilities) that would be cool too. |

I have used quite a number of screenwriting utilities and the best i've used is Final Draft. Another good one is Hollywood Screenplay but it isnt as easy to use and has some bugs.-nick |

Another one is Scriptwerks. Videomaker magazine did a review of it. A pretty good one too. |

This is a subject I have been very interested in. Right now I'm using some add-on to Word that formats in a specific way. I'm trying to figure out if any of the script writing programs can do anything worth paying the ridiculous money they ask for them. I mean, for Christ sake, I have been using a template in Word for a while now that formats in a particular way. And since there is no true defined standard, why would I pay several hundred $ for something that can be done in Word? |

There is a defined standard, even a specific font/type size you have to use. I believe it is Helvetica/12pt but I'm not certain-nick quote: Originally posted by Fastlou: This is a subject I have been very interested in. it's courier font, and there's a post somewhere on here recently where a guy broke it down completely.final draft is so nice to use. i can't wait to get my copy. i won the auction on saturday, so i should probably get it on thursday or friday. this is the first time i've ever paid for software, other than games. 150 bucks. |

Final Draft 5.0 is now out. They also offer a free viewer so people without the program can view the file - you can send it electronically or on disk instead of printing it out. ------------------ Jeff F - Moderator Magic and FX Amazing the Masses |

I got it. It's great. I love it. It's great. I'll be selling it now that I need money for a camera, though. |

I have just been using a Word template for a while, and it works for me. It is easy to use, and you just hit some F keys at the top of your keyboard for whatever type of format the line needs. I looked for the place I downlaoded it, but didn't find it. i did find a link that seems to have a bunch of Word template links though. It is a ton cheaper than buying some big program when Word already has all the capabilies you could ever need. take a look at the link if ya want - http://www.users.ticnet.com/bop/swsoftw.htm I think the one I have been using is digiscript, though magicscript looks good too. |
