okay, i have, quite possibly, if i do it right, a damn fine script. i've written 54 pages of hit, but i've hit a roadblock. i need two things.first off, i need a reason for a depressed loner who's never really been attached to anyone to fall in love with someone else. second, i need a goal that a suicidal couple could overcome, and it has to relate to an opera house. i thought about them filling in for actors, but depressed people ready to die don't seem like the type who what to perform in front of people. but i need a sort of obstacle that they both can over come, like pulling off a production or making something big happen. but it has to do with an opera house, or where they put on plays in the 18th century. i tells ya, this will be the greatest thing i've ever done. outside of my other script, which will equally be the greatest thing i've ever done. any help? ------------------ formerly known as Flemchuck foooo grrr, man, foogrr. |

Your new name is cooler.Anyway, here is a reason that a "depressed loner" could finally fall in love with someone else. If "he" is a loner because there is something about him that causes him to be rejected by other people, or causes him to have a hard time connecting with other people, then simply have this new love accept him in spite of it, or love him because of it. This can be something as blatant as Quasimodo's deformities in "The Hunchback of Notre Dame." Or, it can be more subtle, such as a love of acting or a desire to be a playwright in a family/town/etc. that looks down on that kind of thing. As for a suicidal couple and an opera house, here is my idea. There are few things I can think of that could inspire both people in a relationship to be suicidal together, but one really good one is the death of a child. So... What if you had a playwright who found his true love because she loved the artistic side of him when everyone else looked down on it or couldn't relate to it. They got married (or not), had a kid, but the child died. The father had been writing a play/opera that he had titled after the child's name. It now becomes a sort of obsession for them to finish the play and see it performed, as a way of finally laying the child to rest in their own minds and hearts. I'm glad the script is going so well for you. Good luck! "Whatever you can do, or think you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it." -- Unknown. |

Here's an idea: A) the guy is depressed and filled with self-pity. He never fell in love with anyone cause he was always too wrapped up in his own problems until...he met a beautiful woman who was even more pitiable than himself. B)He is an actor who acts (or sings) at his old opera house in a run down section of town. The woman is a drifter and just got into town and rents a little hole-in -the-wall apt around the corner from the opera house and works at the diner on the ground floor of the apts building she lives in, a real greasy-spoon. She goes into a performance at the opera house one night, which generally plays to a nearly empty house. She was a writer who left NY because she had a drinking problem or something along with all of her other baggage. She had a play she was working on and seeing that this man puts so much into his performances each night, despite the lack of an audience, inspires her to jump back into it with renewed enthusiasm. What she doesn't know is that the man's acting is the only thing that is keeping him from killing himself. One day the owner of the opera house says that because no one comes to see the shows anymore he will have to close the place down. To make a long story short, the woman presents the script to the man, she directs him, and the man brings her play to life with such success that it gets unbelievable reviews, the opera house is saved, the man has his life extended(for a while longer, anyway) the man and woman find love and everyone lives happily ever after. |

oh, no film scorer, i had to keep writing while the other script was away so i started a new one.anyhow, flask, those are really good ideas. however, once again it is my fault because i didn't explain everything. the two suicidals work at the opera house. in fact, there's eight suicidal's who work at the opera house. i really would rather not say why or anything, but they've got three weeks before they kill themselves. everyone coems in at different times, so people are dying every other day. but this chick, we'll call her jen, came in hours before the guy, liam. so jen will die before liam. i have the ending worked out to perfection, i just need some reason that liam, who has never really connected with anyone, would connect with jen, who will not love him back. they will not fall in love, because jen won't love him back. he'll love her plenty, but she's not gonna love him. so i need some sort of reason for him to love her. and as for the opera house subplot, i need something for the two to go through together, a mission or accomplishment within the opera house that the two could get to know each other better, and liam could then fall in love with her. also, the subplot has to have a nice and big ending, because after that the script's all downhill. for example, if i did the acting one (which i don't want to do): liam and jen sign up to replace the two actors. despite never having acting talent or anything, they go for it just for the sake of doing something new before they die. while working on the script, liam finds out jen is quite __________, and eventually falls in love with her because he's never quite met someone like her. he doesn't realize he loves her until thwe night of production, when he _____________ and it finally hits him. At this point, they're already in production and they pull off the performance beautifully. i don't know if this is giving you too much info to care about, but any idea you have for me is a good idea. unless it involves harry potter. ------------------ formerly known as Flemchuck foooo grrr, man, foogrr. |

Well...I have an Idea I have been jealously guarding for some time now. I may be willing to discuss it with you. It is sort of a love story, but with an interesting modern twist.------------------ Check out my sample music site *updated 12.22.00 |

well email it to me, brother. don't worry, i am totally against all forms of copying people, and i wouldn't feel right crediting my name to someone else's idea. i am sooooo against that sort of thing. i don't knwo if this is a healthy thing, but i think i would be capable of killing someone for profiting off of one of my good ideas. |

OK...I'm going to get a synapsis of it laid out here soon. Then I'll send it to you. I was hoping to write a book first because whenever I started a screenplay I would get stuck. then again, somethings were just ment to be on the big screen ------------------ Check out my sample music site *updated 12.22.00 |

Wow, that is a lot of suicidal people in one place, dude! However, if it works, it works. I don't know much about opera, but I'm told that a good opera is one in which almost everyone dies.Maybe it would be best to try the acting angle halfway. Jen must take over a difficult acting part. Maybe she is the understudy who hasn't taken the part seriously, yet. Maybe she feels that this performance must be perfect, since it will be the last performance of her life. Maybe she is just the company's only hope when the lead actress is unexpectedly out of commission (kills herself?). Anyhow, she must call upon Liam to help her prepare for the part. Perhaps he is very knowledgeable about theater/acting, but his antisocial side has prevented him from sharing it with anyone. His regard for her grows as he drills her in her lines, her gestures, her position on stage, everything. On the night of her performance, he stands at the back of the theater, alone, and suddenly wishes that the romantic lines he hears her performing were being spoken to him. Again, good luck! Flask, well done. I like it. Even though I have to tweak it a little because she's more anti-social than he is (think Marla from Fight Club). I haven't gotten a chance to write more on it, but I'll do it soon. I've got my other script back from the reviewers and will be doin the second draft now. | |
