A film I am doing for film class is based off an old short story. In a few words, the story is about a guy who is told he will die on saturday night....he flips out for a coupld of days and then on sunday night he picks up a stripper in a bar who calls herself gloria. See, strippers always use stage names and ****. Anyways, when he is screwing her, he dies on her. It turns out that her stage name for the night was "Saturday Knight". My problem is though, once he is dead, how will I let the audience know her true name. It is in narration in the story, and I DO NOT WANT TO DO A VOISE-OVER NARRATION!! Any help would be great! -Andrew |

How about after he dies on her she panics and calls an ambulence, and when the police arrive they're questioning her and ask her her name and she says "Saturday. Saturday Knight." (and then maybe just fade out). Dumb idea, but it could work. |

See, I actually thought that too, but I wanna fade out with him laying dead on her. I was wondeirng if there could be any sort of flashback(i would prefer not doing this) or anything else that could hint to her name with the film fading out a bit after he dies in bed??? |

Do you have to fade out right on them? If not, she could start flailing around when she realizes that he's dead, and as she does she knocks her purse off of the nightstand. The camera angles down as you hear her struggling with the body and we see her wallet which fell out of her purse, open to her ID....which of course has her name on it. Or is it imperative to the movie that you fade out on them while they're in the bed? |

Der.....God I'm stupid. Okay (get ready for more stupid ideas), what if her purse falls on the floor and a flyer falls out, and on it it says something like "Every Saturday night, Gina "Saturday Knight" ****(whatever her last name is). Although you did say "for the night", so maybe that wouldn't work either? |

I can understand how you would want to end with that final shot. It would have so much more impact than continuing with some paper thin scene which has soley been constructed to reveal the hooker's stage name. Perhaps she could have a striking tattoo of the stage name on her arm, stomach, whatever... This could possibly work. |

i've got it. ok, he's gonna be doin here in her hotel room, so her stuff is lying around the place. i would have, and this fits with both of your fade outs, a picture of her and some friends on a shelf in the foreground. there could be a legible card or plague written saying something like "Titania, Wide Gap, and Saturday Knight." then we would have anice focus out on that and onto the background, where the guy would lie dead still in the prostitute.eh? but you'd have to establish stage names before the incident, so people know what's going on. likewise, and i think this idea is better, her stage name could be on the door. and you could focus on the door i nthe foreground (which is open for some reason and slanted). the door could say "saturday knight," then focus to the background of the dead guy, then fade out.

A problem has just occurred to me about the tattoo idea. Obviously the tattoo couldn't be on her stomach or arm, because the guy would see it. I can't believe this didn't hit me straight away! Talk about feeling like a jackass... Anyway, if you wanted to use this idea she could instead have the tattoo on her back. This could be revealed to the audience as she reaches up to shake him or realises he is dead on top of her and quickly sits up with a gasp. You could then cut to black. nova_monkey ------------------ Don't play innocent with me Bazza; spanking! Hatchet Harry - LOCK STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS |

Here u go: When he first gets 2 her room theres a stack of promo photos of her on the dresser by the bed. He picks one up and comments on it and she says she'll autograph it for him. She bends over in her nighty or whatever and as she finishes signing it, he grabs hger and throws her on the bed. Afterwards , when he's dead and she is (I assume) shreiking in revulsion, the camera pulls back and focuses on the photo that she signed "to (whoever), from Saturday Knight" |
