a while ago someone posted a link to a site about developing characters. it had questions like "where were they born, how was their childhood" so one could get more of a feeling of the characters as real people with past, present, and future lives. anyone remember the address of this site, or know a site like it?------------------ Simplicity is the Ultimate Sophistication--Leonardo da Vinci, used in an early Apple Computer ad |

www.eclectics.com/articles/character.html is the one that was on the board and it has a lot of direct personality questions. A lot about family, secrets, most valuable possession, thing they'd change about themselves, qualities- that sort of thing. http://screenwriting.about.com/arts/screenwriting/library/tutorial/bl_tutorialcharacter.htm this one is also really good. It helps you write a life story for your character and has a really cool feature that helps make you think like your character using questions from a book called 'The Book of Questions' ie: "Your character is offered $1,000,000 for the following act: before them are ten pistols only one of which is loaded. They must pick up one of the pistols, point it at their forehead, and pull the trigger. If they can walk away they do so a millionaire. Would they accept the risk?" That type of things. I fill both of them out for each character (or at least the main five...)Hope this helps. ------------------ I once had 509 posts...but now I don't. |
