Im making a couple longer films this summer, I was hoping to shoot one up at my cabin. Id like to make it a "creature feature" with a few monsters. Any ideas for one? Something with a max. of maybe 5 characters. Heres what I have to work with: 1.About 4 or 5 cabins 2.A tractor 3.a golf cart 4.a few motor bikes, quads, trikes ect 5.a lot of forest 6.a big wide open field on a rolling hill valley thing 7.2 tents (one 6 man, one 4 man) 8.a little tiny shed (well kind of a shack thing, in the woods, all run down i think it used to be used for a hunting shack, its about 6 feet by 8 feet) 9.an old car body in the woods, very little left 10. A really neat field that id flat and has small thin trees, about 10 feet tall, it would be great for a chase scene because you cant see more than 10 feet ahead of you, and its too tall to look over, and there are no dead logs or anything. 11. a lake (duh) 12. a marina, dock thing (about 35 stalls) 13. one of those paddle boats that two people paddle like a bike you know? 14. a big fence surrounding the marina (could probably work that in) 15. more woods 16. a beach path (leading to the beach 17. an old pump well type thing 18. 2 trailers, the ones people camp in 19. A house under construction 20. another house 21. Motor Boat (275 motor) hmm thats all the stuff i can think of right now, thats the big props and scenery and stuff, i have lotsa knives, and costumes and stuff. SO maybe a killer? or monster? i dont have any good ideas, Help me out and i'll give you a credit we hope to shoot on the XL1, we almost have one arranged. Anyone wanna help on the script? I want it to be about 2 hours long Thanks alot, give me an email if you want to hel;p, thanks.[This message has been edited by World_Empire_Films (edited 02-19-2001).] |

Whoa! Easy, big fella! Of course, people have ideas that use some or all of your available goodies. But putting them into a coherent story takes time. Take some time off, learn how to do prosthetics (saves you a TON of money on a creature feature), and have faith in the LAS-ites.Sarge |

Howbowt (New word that should be used a lot on this forum)a story about a monster that kills every ten years in a specific campsite. You break the moivie into pieces occuring in the sixties, seventies eighties and nineties. you could get use out of some of the odd props ie use a cabin interior and ten years later it's the run down shack. Have a car in one scene and ten yers later use the old car body. The really neat field becomes forest ect. Yes it's only a germ of a story but all you gave us to work with is props and locations so we're going in aXX end first here. I'll keep thinking. you ever develop any of those weird ideas I've shot your way before like the zombes or space cowboys. You always seem to ask for the weirdest things. ------------------ We came here to find the American dream. Now that we're right in the vortex you want to quit? You must realize, we've found the main nerve. -Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas |

lol thanks Skinned Fox, I like that idea, its pretty cool, i think i'll expand it and possibly do it. Anyone have any cool ideas for this? This one, I have decided is about the axe murdered guy, instead of a monster or creature, and i have started working on ideas for a creature one, so its basically 2 different movies, but with the same people and same locations, except the creature one will take place more (much more) on the water, and the beach.------------------ http://www.angelfire.com/indie/filmaker1/ |

What if you did this:The big axe murderer guy is just out for revenge. Many years ago, he was thought to have been murdered out at this campsite or whatever but actually survived. Now, his killer had a son. This son comes to the campsite(or whatever) with a bunch of his friends. The ax murderer(the one looking for revenge) kills the son's friends and takes the son hostage. The son then takes the axe murderer to his killer's home so he can exact revenge. Then, there are a few things that could happen: 1. The axe murderer kills his killer and gets his revenge. the end. 2. There is some strange twist in the story. Maybe the axe murderer really DID die and is actually just doomed to roam the Earth until he exacts bloody vengeance. 3. The killer finally kills the axe murderer. The end. 4. The axe murderer kills his killer, the son kills the axe murderer. The End. Anyway, i would probably do something like that. My Two Bits, Bread |

With only four or five characters, it sounds like the best way to structure your plot is to have a group of people go camping in the woods, only to be terrorized by...I know, it sounds a little cliche, but if the threat is a monster of some kind, you would have all kinds of potential for using the different elements you listed. Perhaps the creature is some kind of zombie or mutant that rose up from the lake, and the group of people are picked off one by one. You could get more mileage out of your small cast by having the heroes attack the monster in various gory ways, only to find that the monster still isn't dead! My gut call is to have them finally kill it in the unfinished house, although I couldn't tell you why. You have the perfect set-up for a monster movie. I envy you. Have fun with it!
