Hi, we're a little new to computer editing. We shooting on XL1's and we just ordered a canopus DVRex M1/R2. It has dual intel pentium pentium III 850MHz, 256MB PC133 SDRAM, 180 GB UltraDMA Storage Configuration, and well other things of course, but I just wanted to know if that sounds capable of editing features. Thanks |

ROTFLOL... Drexel? Do you have ANY idea what you're doing, or what you're talking about? I think that it would be an understatement to say, "your system is WAY overqualified to be an editing system!!!"By the way, my brother in law was just handed four (4) 512MB DIMMs for free where he works. That's over $2,000 worth of SDRAM. 2GB of RAM! Woohoo! Too bad my old socket 7 won't take 'em. Isaiah ------------------ Isaiah, "Sound Guy" Eyre www.iEyre.com |

For native DV editing you need at least a Quad-Pentium System (4 Ghz) or you'll run in problems and get dropped frames. NASA manufactures very good computers...Just kidding..har har har

Um, no I'm not bragging. I have fooled around with Premeire and know a little how to use it, but I don't have clue to how this system ranks among editors. With 3 replies, I still don't think anybody answered my question. Thanks anyway though. |

To do basic video editing, all you need is a:450Mhz processor 128MB RAM 18+GB hard drive Vidoe capture card, or capture device 4+MB video RAM There was a post that I made a few months ago, that askes what everyones computers were like. If I remember correctly, the average copmputer consisted of; 500Mhz processor 128MB SD-RAM 16-32MB Video RAM 18-25GB hard drive That being said, your computer is far superior to almost any of the ones that we use. That is nearly capble enough to be used as a silicon graphics computer. Well, ot realy, but still. Believe me when I tell you that you computer far exeeds the needs of Digital Editing. I only wish that I had a computer as good as yours. ------------------ "May the Force be with you."
