Hi,

A title effect that is used often in movies and on tv, is when the letters
of the text slowly drifts apart. A similar effect would be to zoom the text,
but the effect I'm after keeps the letters at the same size and only the
space between them increases. If someone understand what I'm after and also
know an easy way to do this in Premiere, please share okay?

Regards,
Rico

I would (but only because I can't think of an easier way) do this:
Create a new Photoshop image (720x576 for PAL) with a transparent back. Type the text. Promote each letter to its own layer. Import into Premiere. Use the (rightclick) motion, to change the position of the letters.

I've used that effect in some of my trailers (check trailer park section). I did it with After Effects, using a template project from DV magazine's website.

I can't think of anything better than potmonkey's suggestion for premiere though.

Thanks for the information, though it was not what I had hoped for

I tried another solution, writing a plug-in for Premiere that does what I want; Make a title with text on black background, let the filter find the characters and keep them moving for the duration of the clip.
So far I have got it to work, but the motion is a bit on the jerky side, plus the filter have frozen Premiere some times (when using a font or resolution that makes it hard for the filter to separate the letters).

Oh, and I still need some help with Premiere API (see another thread on the forum), if anyone knows anything about that, pleeeaaase???

In the end I'll probably stick to the "multi layer" solution unless I sort out the jerkiness. I've had a good day of fun though

Time to get some sleep!
