Welcome to our sandbox Smoke. I'm a Mac man myself but for a, you know...(with distain) PC it's pretty good . i hope you enjoy yourself. i have after effects and lightwave nether one of which i know that much about with Final cut pro for editing. the computer is a G3 that i still need to upgrade with more disc space, more ram and later on a 500mhz processer. still it's not a bad mechine. i'm shooting with a JVC GY500. what kind of camera are you useing? and are you working on anything now?

Welcome to the boards. You have deffinaetly come to the right place for all of your filmmaking questions. I hope you like it here.

As for your computer, your computer is more than sufficient to do digital editing. Your software on the other hand, is good, and you could do editing with what you have, but you can make that list even better. Sound Forge is excellent, and goldwave is also helpful. As far as 3D programs, Blender is a good program, but it takes alot to learn it. I would suggest you get 3D Studio Max. Now on to video editing. I would say that Adobe Premiere is a must. Adobe After effects would be helpful, but you dont NEED it per say, seeing as how it is expensive. I would also say that you should try to get your hands on Adobe Photoshop 4.0 or higher. Asides from Adobe products, Ulead Software makes some very helpful tools, such as Video Studio, Cool 3D, and many others. I hope that I have been some help to you, and I hope you enjoy being a part of the Likeastory society.

thanks for the welcome, Your suggestion are good, but after getting this system, the bucks are a little short at present for further upgrades.

as far as photo paint goes....it is not bad for rotoscope effects, a little effort is required, like each frame, but i like the glare effect, it can be used on number of things, from lazers to lazer swords to exposions......it makes a nice explosion effect with a little blur....not bad, not perfect but then one must use what they have......

As far as current projects go, i have just been doing lots of test scenes, getting use to what i have........

my camera is a panisonic.palmcorder..about 5 or years old, not digital but once again you got to make do with what you got.....

lastly i saw some guy talking about media mania on some post, i got that with a magazine....its ok, but doesnt let you output to 360 X 540 it always changes 540 to 480..why who nows so to that guy SEEKAE i think cant help you, but if i can i figure it out i will let him now.....

once again thanks for the welcom
