I need to know as much as I can to do this. I won't be able to film it for a few months, but I'll ask so I can find out how.

This will be my only time using bullet time, I've never used it before so I'll tell you how I want it to look.

Good Guy fires a gun. The bullet strikes bad guys forehead
freeze
Bring camera to side of bad guy's head
slow motion
The bullet is not seen. Bad guy's head jerks backward. The back of his head starts to split open
freeze
Bring camera to back of bad guy's head
slow motion
The bullet flies into and through the screen. Skull, brains, blood fly out the back of bad guy's skull.
freeze
Camera moves to side of head
normal speed
Bad guy's head is totally effed up. His body falls.

Thats it. And I want to point out, that this is the only time in this film that I will have blood in it. The bad guy needs to get what he deserves. Can anybody help me.

If it helps, I'm going to film on an 8mm camcorder, unless that is bad for bullet-time.

You can do this in 1 shot, with editting the speed of the clip parts. You break up the shot into clips and control the speed in whatever software your using.

create a rig with a mirror 14-18 inches away from the camera lens at a 45 degree angle. This will help to protect the camera from splatter.

the actor will need a wig with the back split
and you'll need a small balloon with the goodies. you'll also need an air supply that will provide enough air to ruputre the balloon in a short period of time.

1 normal speed
bullet entrance
have a button attached to monofilament fishing line. Cover this with gelatin, and at the right time pull the line. the wound will appear.

2. speed clip 100-200%
move to the side

3. slow motion
slip speed 50%
blow air into the balloon to cause it to bulge. this balloon has the goodies in it

4. speed clip 100-200%
move camera to back of head

5. slow motion speed clip 50%
use a higher pressure to fill and rupture the balloon, splattering the contents

6. speed clip 100-200%
move camera to side.

have the actor freeze, then remove the now covered mirror

7. normal speed
dolly back as the actor falls

I was thinking more of a greenscreen. I'm NEW to all this computer editing. I don't really know how to make it look right.

banky, might want to post this in the make up forum too, they would be able to help you with the head exploding and such.

everything else could be done quite easily using different speeds and a cg bullet.

just play around with times, canera angles and the speed in your video editor. for the stop and slo mo.

A greenscreen wouldn't bring out the desired results in any case. It's like hireing a construction crew to make a sand castle. Way more work than what's necessary. Also I have a saying that I keep close to heart; "The more moving parts to the machine, the greater the chance it will break." Always try to do a shot with the minimum amount of complexity. Some shots are very very complex even at their minimum level, why complicate a less complicated shot?
