I just tried to do offline editing with premiere and my DC10+, but to do this you have to control your camcorder through premiere. but i am not able to do that! I have a MiniDV camcorder, which can also show each frame of the timecode so thats no problem, and it works with the (analog) DC10+ too. So does anyone know if any program is able to control a camcorder through the DC10+ or is that card itself the problem !
Thanks.

I got some bad news and some good news for you buddy...
If you want to control your camcorder or VCR, you need a special LANC connector which the DC10+ doesn't have.
Now if you still have aobut $100 to spare, I suggest you buy a PYRO 1394 DV card. It is great and come with MediaStudio Pro VE (has fewer features than the complete version).

So the bottom line is that DC10+ can't control your camcorder and that is why it didn't work

this does not matter for u, hobbster, since u use a vhs c camera wich is not digital. A firewire card is what goes into the back of your computer and then a single cord runs into your DVCAMERA that will have a small little input for 1394 firewire , only dv or digital 8 use firewire! with your case u would use the dc 10 because it goes into your video and audio hook ups on your camera,or svideo i think,(dont hold me to that since i use firewire)

so whoever originaly posted the topic marcarts or something u should get a fire wire card since u use dv and if you do get a firewire card then make sure it comes with mediastudio 6, or video studio 4. They both let u conroll the camera from the computer, but media studio 6 is a way better editor the video studio so try get that! hope i made sence

To be able to to control a device such as a camcorder, you need a special connector called LANC. DC10+ doesn't have this connector so it isn't possible to control your camera through the computer.

For the DV card, the website is www.adstech.com .
I've been using the card for 5 months now and I haven't had ANY problem.
You can capture in PAL and NTSC.

Check for some previous posts about it...

man, what are you doing using your MINIDV camcorder with an analog capture card!!!?? Yeah, geta pyro for $100. Or if you're used to the DC10+'s ways of doing things with its software, get a Studio DV by the same guys. It got an "Editors Choice" award at CNET.

Nooooooooo!!!
Not Studio DV, it is really buggy, and only has their simple amateur program and only captures NTSC.

Get PYRO DV.

Okay that pyro card seems to be good , but i once heard that some DVcards can only capture at full quality, is this also true for the pyro ? The recommended System requirements for this card are:
P 333Mhz and 64mb ram; Win 98.
But for now i only have a P233 with 32mb ram.
so will the card work in spite of this ?(because i only plan to capture at very low quality?).

Well...
32MB for nay editing isn't even the mininum.
I suggest that you upgrade to 64, 98 or 128MB for your video editing and for the speed of your computer in general.

Now what the PYRO card does, is that you can say the resolution you want, but it will after the capturing, (I think), resize the video for it to be at max resolution.

I suggest you send an email to ADS.
