I've hear about the divx codec, and it sounds pretty good. Where can I download an encoder for the Mac? I have a divx decoder, like a player for divx movies, but it can't encode movies. ------------------

oh f it! it says that it is not yet possible to encode divx movies with a macintosh. oh well, i guess I'll just have to wait. btw, how good is the compression? i mean, how small can the file get how high is the image quality?------------------

I'm sorry for you... 
You can compress a 2hour film on a 650MB CD with good quality at a resolution of 512x288.
It is almost as good a quality than DVD.
