Here is my stuff:
550Mhz Gateway
12.7 gig harddrive
12mb AGP graphic card(whatever this is)
64mb RAM
NEW sony ccd-trv57 8mm camcorder(cant use till christmas)

I want to use DC10+ capture card. someone earlier told me the ccamcorder only has s-video plugs. Will this work with the dc10? and is my computer good enough to edit with?
thanks

Everything should do. Editing on the computer tends to take up alot of memory and hard drive space but doesn't need much processing power.

And by the way what the graphic card does is it processes graphics so the main processor doesn't have to. The 12 mb is for the temporary storage of data like textures etc. (the norm is about 32mb now unless your getting a laptop or somthing) and AGP means it uses an AGP slot on your motherboard (graphics cards either take up agp or pci agp being the faster of the two).

thanks. Does the lower RAM mean that it will take longer to capture? What will that do to me only having 64mb?

more like longer rendering times.....yeah and if you get a 20gb HD make sure its a 7200 rpm one....5400 rpm just doesn't cut it...

I think that's a pretty good computer compared to what I have now, and you'll probably be able to edit about anywhere from 60 to 120 minutes of video at a time. If your going to make alot of short videos (6 minutes or less), I suggest getting a Zip Drive and Recordable CD's! Those babies hold 650 MB each!

I hope this in some way helped!

As far as your camcorder goes, it does have video outputs. They are regular compostite (RCA type). You will have no trouble using it to start editing. A digital camcorder will give you a better picture and sound, but your camera is good for starters. When you get it make sure to go out at night and use the "Nightshot" feature. It leaves everything green but is awsome! The camera sees infrared! Pretty kewl.
Let me know how you like it. That camera should have steady shot if I have my model numbers right. It is a good choice for someone starting out. If you get really serious, Let me know. I will tell you about the one that's $1699.99!

If your camcorder has s-video outs (which I dont think your model does) you can use it with the DC10+. it has s-video and composite (RCA) in/outs.
