It depends if it is scrambled or not. Some don't have copy protection. |

I'm pretty sure that no GE VCRs have Macrovision protection. I have one, and I can copy DVDs to VHS. I imagine that it's same for all of their VCRs, and not that particular model. |

So if I have a VCR capable of passing Macrovision (or a device which does this) and plug it into the DVD player, I should be able to get some extra scenes from a movie on a VHS tape? BTW I live in Australia, so out standard is PAL - does this make a difference? ------------------ This... is my BOOM stick! |

I'm able to do it with my computer. I have a DVD-ROM drive and a matrox g400 TV all I need to do, is play the DVD and hook up my vcr to the outputs on the matrox BOB (break out box) and enable the DVDmax/dualhead feature. I luv it!Mark |

You have to run the DVD player through the VCR (by means of the red, yellow, and white cables) and then run the VCR to the TV, and then you can pop in a blank tape and record.I don't think there should be a difference between NTSC and PAL, since the devices are basically the same. It's worth trying, anyways. |

Well........remember some vcrs don't work with all DVDs......take for example my panasonic VCR.......works fine with a regular version of army of darkness..........but it wont work with any other DVD on that VCR......fairly screwed up....... |

Hi,The PAL-NTSC may be an issue... If You're trying to tape something from a R1 DVD (i.e. NTSC) using a modified R2 DVD-player, the output is usually a PAL signal in 60 Hz (instead of the usual 50 Hz). TV sets can cope with this but usually not vcrs. Modified DVD-players are often Macrovision-free though. Regards, Rico |

How do you go about getting a 'modified' DVD player?------------------ This... is my BOOM stick! |

Yeah, I know of compatibility problems, but I assumed that he meant NTSC-NTSC or PAL-PAL connections. Sorry for any confusion I may have caused. |
