My friend bought a SONY DCR-PC100 Digital handycam. It has a Carl Zeiss(tm) lens. How does this lens differ from "regular" lens? And is there any special things about CZ-lens that one should know? And last question.. Does someone have any experience working with Sony dcr-pc100? Is it workable for example in moviemaking?

It is a "name brand" lens. It means it has better glass in it. Some photographers would argue that the lens it the most important part of a camera. HP is coming out with a digital camera that uses a Pentax lens, Olympus uses their own, as does Nikon, Canon, Kodak and others. The main part you should concern yourself with is that you have a nice camera that will take a very good movie. |

i've never actually used the pc100 model, but it's a Megapixel DV cam, which should give you exceptional quality. the still image feature apparently works well too.some reviews complained about the buttons being placed wierd on the camera and difficult to operate, mainly the zoom button, but that's okay since you should rarely ever use zoom during a shot, only use it to set up a shot. overall, it looks like a good quality camera. check and see if it has white balance override; this can be useful in correcting color hues due to lighting conditions. | |
