I have some vacation footage taken on an older Sony Digital 8 cam (that I no longer have) that I'd like to transfer to MiniDV w/ my Canon. I haven't had much luck in finding rental shops that do anything lower than betacam or XL-1's. I'm trying to avoid buying a cheap D8 and returning it because of the hassle involved. The only thing it needs is a firewire port and I'd be set. Any advice/info is appreciated. Thanks in advance! -Mike |

Hrm ok, well after searching online for the past week or so, I finally find a local rental shop that carries digital8 hardware minutes after posting this. It looks like Adolph Gasser has a variety of cameras, but geeeez, $75/day for a Sony TRV-301? That's insane imho. All of a sudden the buying/return hassle doesn't seem so bad, although somewhat dishonest. But then again I could always just go to Fry's or some other store that tries to screw me on a regular basis to balance out the karma thanks, -mike [This message has been edited by MikeDeuce (edited 12-11-2000).] |

Try the electronic stores near the closest strip of hotels. They tend to rent all sorts of camcorders. Also, have you checked dubbing houses for the cost of transfer? If it's just one or two tapes this may be the cheaper method. ADOM | |
