Does anyone have plans/diagrams for various types of do it yourself camera rigs? I have an XL-1 and a regular tripod won't work for the type of shot I need to get.

Amy ideas?

What type of shot do you need to get?

If you need plans on how to build an excellent dolly, for only $150, then check out my website. I have plans for a dolly that I created that is GREAT. It is sturdy, stable, quiet, and relatively lightwieght for easy transport. Check it out. If you actually decide to build it, I can email you a printer friendly version, without the pictures. My site is listed below, in my signature, but if you want a direct link, it is http://hometown.aol.com/pyroman451/dolly.html

Those dolly plans look like they could just be the ticket.. I'm still storyboarding, etc... but I thought I'd check out the practicalities before going to all the trouble of drawing a shot I wouldn't be able to shoot.

Thanks!

I'm working on a camera crane design at the moment, but until then, check out a simplified version of one by Paul Turner. It's what gave me the idea for mine.

Here it is: http://home.pacifier.com/~tmnathe/boom.html

eggy, you give up on the "skycrane" type?

i still havent got to the local aluminum store, but i have a good ballpark figures. i'm thinking that it'll cost about $60 or so for a 12' crane

No, but I've yet to get the materials for the skycrane-type crane. I just thought that site might help out my good friend Nocturna.

Once I do make it, I'll try and put up a tutorial on it and give you the total cost of how much it was.

cool, i think that'll help out a lot of people, or at least give them something else to consider.
