you're talking about how the car zooms toward the camera, then slows as it passes to let you look at the people inside, then speeds up again (with the camera following it)?

i saw an article about this once, but really if you think about it it's not that complicated. if you are going to have people viewed in the car then that complicates things a little. what you want is to set up a tripod on the side of the road, plan your pan movements, then film it with a car driving past at about 25 mph (keep speed constant) (in one continuous shot). in the computer you're going to cut up the footage into about 3 shots but have them back to back so there's no gap. you'll speed up the first and last shots (applying motion blur of course) and then slow down the middle shot (the one with the car close to the camera and the people smiling inside).

the end result is a continous shot of a speeding car approach, slow down as it passes, and then speed off again.
obviously that's only a basic idea, but you can fiddle with it to make it fancier (like have an in-between shot that is gradually slowed down or sped up)

hope that helps

ya and when u film it, film it at a high shutter speed so the slow mo has no motion blur.

hmm...try this. get it real super slow mo, so it's really choppy.

download motionperfect, and run your choppy avi through this. wouldn't hurt!

Thanks Guys

I will give it a try....another example of this effect, yes it's everywhere ))
is in, "lock, stock and two smoking barrells"
as the v.o. introduces the characters..being chased by the cops in the beginning? they are coming down the stairs and the suitcase flys open ))
I know it's an easy effect....but is it possible to do with a Handycam?
I can get close...but still no cigar ))
is there some plugin or filter that can help?

thanks again

What they do is shoot the whole shot in slow motion and then SPEED UP some parts of it in post.
