Hey i got my e-mail today and downloaded alamdv i wont post my opinions yet because i haven quite got the program worked out even tho i read all the help...So what does everyone ELSE think? heh ok ill say only one thing, I think they used a flashy GUI to make it look good but in doing that it has made the program more buggy (in my opinion) |

I've played with it and can't get it to run for more than 3 minutes w/o a crash. It locks up when I try to load a 15 MB file. ------------------ **AOL IM - EyesRMaced**e-mail - dedhorse@ev1.net |

Hi everyone - as we said in the help files, it is best to edit single shots at the moment. In fast it is best to edit shots under 100 frames in the beta. Some movies take a while to come in, so be patient (we've not had it crash on any of our test systems). The interface, no sorry, everything is still in development, this is a very early beta. Ok, in some ways we were not ready for yesterday - we think we had about 250 downloads last night (we are in England). I'm pleased to say that you don't all hate it - infact we had alot of good e-mails. Lots of the things people said are already in the pipe line, but it is best to keep reminding us. We need extra video controls so that you can easily skip to any area of the movie (like a normal program). You need to be able to see that when you make the first click of the lightsword it does something and it would be better when making the lightswords if the curror was a crass hair.Keep it coming... NOTE: You need to run at 1024x768 in this version. If you can't it is either that your video card doesn't support it or you need different video drivers. Be careful when exporting frames - even if you click cancel it will do it. Just be careful. |

Im sorry if i make you feel bad from the posting of this message because i am not meaning to but meerly offering my thoughts on the program. Personally from the release of the beta i expected more basically i didnt think it would be a rotoscoping program and i defenately thought it wouldnt be a director file! but the way you have done it is great but you really shouldnt have used something like director cause they are always buggy, but there the only things the fact that in order for you to make the program more attractive you have made the program work less eficiantly tell me if im wrong guys but i think all of us would prefer a program that worked fluently then a program that kinda worked but looked good. |

C'mon David its not that bad. I dont argue that its very rough but it looks really promising. Ive already used it and showed some people the frames and they were totally fooled. It will get beeter just wait.-Jamaal www.Jackassery.com |

Just so that you know we selected Director because it allows us to create cross-platform applications very easily. We have made a load of internal xtras in c++ that do most of what you see anyway. David's negative response is noted but it could be a bit more useful to say the least! We had been working on that version for about 3 weeks so there is a lot, and I mean a lot, of problems. As we said in the e-mails it was just for you to see some of what we are doing. In the end we are trying to create a program for you, tell us what you want but please be constructive. |

It seems like ti will work very well, and the screenshots on the website looked great, but when i run the program, almost everything i do gives me script errors. Do you have any idea why, or what i am doing wrong?------------------ "May the Force be with you." Be sure to check out JRMorgen Productions ONLINE, at http://hometown.aol.com/jrmorgenfilms/ And be sure to sign our guestbook. We love hearing from you. |

yes there are a lot of script errors - these don't normally crash the program. You can normally continue past them. Most script errors occur when pressing buttons while not having a movie open or pressing cancel buttons. If you follow the procedures for creating files in the help you should be ok. e-mail me direct if you still have a problem. josh@alamdv.com |

When I follow the basic instructons it runs smoothly for me. I'm actually kind of impressed. It's still far from a fully finished piece of software, but what is there is working good. Minus the score, of course. Looks promising. |

Is it just mine, or is everybody getting absolutely no results from it? I can't get any help files to comeup. Whenever I click anywhere I get a blue line that will eventually turn into 3 blue line with yellow inside the blue outline shape. Thats all I can get to happen. Are there instructions on how to work with it elsewhere, cause if its in the help sections I'm not getting it to work. Oh, and I can't stand it at 1024x768 |

Here's the deal, JasonSly. As soon as you click the Lightsword button, your next 4 clicks must be the points for the saber: 1 handle, 2 handle, 3 dowel, 4 dowel and then it connects them to be yellow. Click on the inside of that new yellow box that is your saber and it makes it. THEN make your setting changes. (I don't know about your help files.) |

Then you would advance a frame, click the Lightsword button again and make a new sword outline. Yeah, I din't find too many useful instructions, I mostly figured it out with some help from the help files. But now I got it down pretty good. |

Apparently lots of the avi problems people are having is sorted by the finished version of QuickTime 5. |

Thanks Film Boy. My problem was when I unzipped it, it unzipped to Windows/Temp/ directory and all I could find was the ALAMDV program itself. I unzipped it again to its own directory and then found all of the help files. I can definately see some promise with it now that I've got it working. |

I think you program is really good, the sabers look nice!it makes render time alot faster! there are a few probs., but not too bad. but I have a Q. After I draw in sabers in ten frames or so, rewind, and push play to see how it looks, my sabers aren't there! -Chase |

Same thing happens to me. Try just stepping back. I bet you see them again, right? I figure by playing it, the program is simply not fst enough to draw them up again. But if you export it, the sabers are there. |

The web site will not be updated for a couple of days as we are doing loads of programming. We have nearly filled all the beta tester posts, so if you want to be a tester sign up now.The next beta is coming along really well now - we've added lots of you suggestions. p.s. does the QuickTime 5 thing work? |
