i thought it was a video format, it dosen't compress very well. also another question, do PAL VCDs need a resolusion of ~300x288?

it is a filetype.

it's not a codec, but you can "compress" video, i guess, into an mpeg.

i know, it doesn't work all that well.

try divX , the god ol' mpeg-4 codec.
