Hi, heres what I need to do. I need to capture 2 hours of video and put it on a CD. It needs to be in Mpeg 1 format. I'm looking around for ways to do this, and it'ld make it alot easyer and less time consumeing if I could just capture the video in Mpeg 1 format instead of haveing to convert it. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

How you capture your footage is dependant upon your capture card. I use the DVRex M1 and it captures in avi fomat so I have to convert to MPEG later. Check the specs on your card.

I'm not sure it's even possible to capture in MPEG-1 because of the enourmous amount of computer power it takes to convert something into the mp1 codec. Check www.videoguys.com they have detailed specs on all caputer utilites and hardware. I think there is a lowergrade system (Dazzle?) that is based on mp1, but I could be wrong.

Don't get Dazzle! the capture "device" is ok but the software is junk!

I think that the MP10 card from Pinnacle lets you do that at low res.
Check if I'm right at www.pinnaclesys.com

Good luck!
