In our next movie, I was hoping to have a scene where someone is thrown of the top of a tall building. I was thinking of shooting a city backdrop at hieght, so the building looks tall, then having the throwing scene as a top layer over the backdrop and using as mask. Next cutting to a scene below where he is actuallly thrown off, but from a much smaller height, so it looks like he was thrown off the tall building, but in reality, it wasn't the same building. My problem is the actors and the mask. I will keep the camera still, so it is easier to create a mask, but with moving actors, it creats a real problem. How can I get around this? So it still looks real, but so I don't have to do it frame by frame! Thanks |

whatver you do, make sure you have A LOT of thick matts around for your actors to land on. when i was doing a saber fight for my first movie, i did a stunt where i was "kicked" off a table. i landed on some matts off camera, and that little fall knocked the wind out of me. (but they were crappy, few-inch-thick matts. |

Well there is a way to do it if you dont mind compensating the way in which you were going to shoot the effect if you just film the guy look like he is getting thrown off but before he is released cut to a scene with a dummy they look cool sometimes if made well... then cut to a scene of the actor laying on a table or whatever but make a blue screen or whatever so you can key it out then just get him to flail his arms and stuff but dont move the camera (which is angled above the actor facing downwards like a birds eye view) then take it into premiere and give it a motion of like being scaled down and rotated if you want but it does look kool |
