According to the web page there is no demo for Animation Master. I have just recently picked up a copy and am learning the program. If you want to do SFX type stuff, then this is may not be the program for you. However, it looks like its a kick ass program for doing character animation. After looking at the features of A:M I don't know how I could ever have even attempted character animation in Lightwave. |

That's an interesting statement, EricM... Although perhaps A:M isn't suited specifically for SFX, there's always the age-old philosophy that if there's a will, there's a way. And it's true that something like 3DS MAX would probably be better for that kind of thing, but I tend to think that if you put your mind to it, and you really know how to use the software, you can do a lot more than what it was designed for. Thanks for the input guyz. I am not wanting it for just SFX though, I might do a dinasaur movie and I say and awesome Dino chasing a car someone made with A:M. Very realistic! Just go to their video section and u'll find it.-Chase ------------------ Please visit our website here L&W Productions |

I agree, you can do FX work with A:M, but the interface is HEAVELY geared towards character animation. Other 3D programs have a lot more plug-ins that are great for FX. I was just warning Filmguy that if he wanted something mainly for FX then A:M may not be the best choice. Just as I wouldn't recomend using Lightwave to make a South Park cartoon. I have done it and it turned out great, but it wasn't easy. |

I use A:M and agree with that advice. Plug-in support is definitely one of its weaknesses. I think you can do anything in A:M that you can with other 3D packages with good quality, but you may have do much more of your own creative work to get there. That kind of stuff can be fun as a hobby, but very time consuming in other situations. For something like dinosaur animations, it will work really well. If FX are your main interest, I'd look more towards the dedicated effects and compositing packages than any 3D package. |
