Ok, not sure if this is a stupid question but I have never been able to use keyframes to use an effect for only part of a clip.Is this possible? I have always used 2 identical layers, one with the effect and I shorten that clip and place it where I need it to appear. Hope that makes sense. I guess basically whenever I use an effect it applies it to the whole clip. I have books, tutorials etc...but yet I cannot find how to do this. Thanks

I'm guessing that you are just appling key frames for where you want the effect to take place. you also hve to apply keyframes to the places where you dont want it to be. Example: you want to apply an effect to a certain part of a scene. apply your effect. set the settings so that the effect isnt causing any change to the scene. set a keyframe at the frame before where you want th effect to start. got to the next frame, set a keyframe by changing your effect to whatever you want. set a new keyframe where you want it to end. go to the next frame and change effect settings so footage is normal. I hope this helps, if not explain further and I'll see if i can come up with the answer you need. |

Ok that works for me......now I have another problem....effects like Lens Flare for example does not have a setting where the lens does not show as 10% is the lowest you can set brightness. Any ideas on how to get this to work? Thanks

In the effects control window there is the option "blend with original". set this to 100% and you will only be able to see your original footage. |

Take whatever layer your lens flare is on and set opacity key frames for it. You can ramp it up 0-100 over 1 frame if you need an "instantaneous" appearance.------------------ Doug Spice Mojumbo Jambalaya Productions Los Angeles, CA http://mojumbo.n3.net |
