Ok, I've been working on a movie in Premiere, it turns out OK, so I save it as an AVI file. However, when I go to my Sony's DVGate Motion, and try to load the AVI, it says "There were some unsupported files." What should I do? Am I even going about this the right way? |

i have dvgate motion, on a vaio etc. I've never come across that problem before. What are you putting into the premiere files. PHOTOSHOP IMAGES? WAVE FILES? Any weird files may be corrupting the avi. (LIKE STUDIO MAX FILES OR MAYBE A WORD DOCUMENT)Or perhaps you aren't rendering it correctly. is the camera hooked up right? Acutally, do you have the right camera for it? -thm |

Oh yeah, I have a Sony Handicam, so I don't think that's the problem - i have it hooked up via firewire. I put in a WAV file and bitmaps I edited in a Corel program that came with the computer. |

it could be the bitmaps, better off using photoshop or even converting the bitmaps to jpgs-trm |

Never mind, it was the bitmaps - I could export when I changed them to jpegs. |

I have exactly the same problem, and I'm not using any bitmaps or wav files at all. The problem does not occur when I use the bundled Premiere LE, only when I use Premiere 5.1 - this is a major pain after having shelled out big time for the software. Also if I try to save an avi using Sony Codec, the computer tells me the destination drive is full - even though the drive is absolutely empty - I've reformatted it, so 2Gb free. I am going insane here, please help before I destroy my computer with a lump hammer. |

I have a VIAO too and had the same problem. You have to export the movie with 29.97 fps, 720x480, 44khz 16bit stereo sound. I use a Sony TRV-103 so I'm not sure it will work with other cameras. If that fails try to export the movie with the same settings that it was captured in.On word of advise for VIAO owners, I reinstalled windows with the recovery disk and was very selective about what programs I installed and not only did I increase my rendering time by 50% I saved 2 GIGs of space! VIAO rocks! www.jabinya.com |

Jabinya - you rock! using the new settings, I managed to save the movie as an avi, no problem. However, I still can not open the avi file in DVmotion - I still get the 'unsupported files' bull****. What's happening there? All I've got in the project is avi files that I captured through dvmotion and some regular transitions.

whoops, sorry, didn't know the word bull**** was a breach of netiquette. Pardon my French.

If you can't export it the AVI must have been rendered with the wrong settings. DVMotion is very picky on what it decides to export. If one subsetting in Premiere is set wrong DVMotion won't accept it.Here are the most extensive list of settings I can give you; Settings for a AVI to be exported thru DVMotion: Average data rate: 3.60M per second Image size: 720 x 480 Pixel depth: 24 bits Frame rate: 29.97 fps Audio: 44Khz - 16 bit - Stereo AVI File details: Contains 1 video track(s) and 1 audio track(s). Video track 1: (average frame = 117.19K bytes) Frame rate is 29.97 fps Frame size is 720 x 480 Depth is 24 bits. Compressor: 'dvsd', Sony DV software CODEC Audio track 1: Rate is 44100 samples/sec, stereo Sample size is 16 bits Settings from a AVI that was captured from DVMotion: Average data rate: 3.56M per second Image size: 720 x 480 Pixel depth: 24 bits Frame rate: 29.97 fps
Audio: 32Khz - 16 bit - Stereo AVI File details: Contains 1 video track(s) and 1 audio track(s). Video track 1: (average frame = 117.19K bytes) There are 76 keyframes. Frame rate is 29.97 fps Frame size is 720 x 480 Depth is 24 bits. Compressor: 'dvsd', Sony DV software CODEC Audio track 1: Rate is 32000 samples/sec, stereo Sample size is 16 bits Hope this helps! www.jabinya.com |

Yep, I am using exactly the same settings all the way throughout and I still get the 'there are some unsupported files' nonsense - this is driving me mad. Are there any other possible variables I might have overlooked?
