Did you try setting the work area bar over the transition? It's the lavendar bar with two arrows on either side located closest to the Title bar of the Timeline. You can read more about it and transitions in the manual.

What version of premier is it? Remeber that pirated versions of software never work exactly like they should. Have you dragged the transition onto the propore video field? and then dragged the transition for the length you want?

For Filmstrip into Photoshop try going to File<Import... Or in the 'open window' select 'all files' instead of "Photoshop Compatible files (or whatever)"

its premiere rt 5.1 its not like a ware or anything, its off the real disk, but i just dont know how to get the transitions to work. ive tried everything that i can nothing works. i have a file in video 1 and a file in video 1a or whatever its called, i make sure that they overlap then i put a transition into the transition bar at the right place. then i render it, export it as an .avi, play it back and watch in wonder as nothing happened.
