Can anyone tell me how Darth vaders voice was done? I know it was James Earl Jones voice, but I would like to know what effects were used for the robotic sound of the voice. |

Lets see... it was the late '70s... I that must mean they had him talk through a toilet paper spool------------------ "I like to see things as I remember them, not as they were." -Bill Pullman "Lost Highway" |

Most likely they used a Vocoder of some sort. a vocoder is a little "electric box" that can make voices sound like robots, mechanical, singing synths (yes *S*) and stuff like that. if you want a Free software vocoder for your PC look at http://zerius.com/vocoder/index.html they have one and it's actually pretty good for being Freeware *S* try to download the graphical front-end, makes it easier. i hope this helps;------------------ Benny |
