Get it. It is zone 1. If you can't play zone 1, get a new dvd player or get a shop to turn the code off or chip it. The dvd is so worth it. It has the best features of any dvd. The making, commentary track, music only track (I didn't think I would like the music only track but I was wrong...), two special "hidden" behind the scene segments about bullet time and one with story boards and music, a follow the white rabbit track with behind the scene shots in specific shots, cast bios, and of course it is the best movie ever.

Loved the behind-the-scenes mini-movies, but overall I was actually disappointed with the DVD.

Music-only track is nice, but:

Unless you have a DVD-ROM, most of the coolest features are disabled.

Also, the audio commentary actually isn't really that interesting. A movie that existed entirely in the heads of the Wachowskis, and we get the editor and Carrie-Anne Moss? There are whole scenes that go by without anybody saying anything... I kept checking to make sure I hadn't turned the commentary off somehow. And I'm pretty sure Carrie-Anne slipped out for a smoke during the entire middle hour of the film.

And finally, The Matrix had both one of the best Teasers of last year and one of the best Trailers of all time. And yet both are strangly missing. I mean, come on, trailers are practically standard for DVD's now!

Like I said, loved the behind-the-scenes movies. The rest of the extras aren't anything special, however. I've heard another version is coming out in November. Hopefully they ramp up the quality of the extras along with the price.

Red 5, What? I know that the movie was a Wachowski thing but the movie was alsso a special effects thing and John Gaeta was totally justified in being there. I thought he sounded like a little bit of an ******* though. The Carrie-anne Moss being there was good but she didn't stick around long and then came back in the end, I was a little dissapointed with that, but overall the DVD rocks totally.

I guess it depends on what you're looking for. I was hoping for more insight into what they were thinking when they made decisions about the film, rather than the same old "bullet-time involves lots of cameras, and that's really hard to do" stuff that a dozen magazines and websites have already been over.

I agree the visual FX were a big part of the film, but that info can be found other places. I was just hoping for more insight into "why" than "how." Plus the trailer thing (I'm really bitter about that one. )

I'm gonna get killed for this one.
I do not understand all of this hoopla surrounding the matrix, it was not that good. It was not very insightful at all. I don't know why everyone thinks it is. It's about as deep as a comin book, or a manga movie. It's cool as hell to look at, but watching it with the music track gave me the same effect. This is just IMOHO.

I agree with the last post. WTF??? Anyway, I think that the onnly thing that made the movie even slightly not F-ing awesome was the fact that Keanu Reeves can't really act. But The Matrix rocks. No ifs, ands, or buts. But I recommend to everyone if you don't want to watch the music-only track think again. It was a very cool thing to watch. The music is so great. Especially (I think) in the very beginning when Trinity is kicking ass. I love that movie...
