I am making a Hi-tech sci-fi movie and I have a character that has a cloak that when pulled over his head makes him disappear. This is a No-budget movie but I do have adobe photoshop and Premiere. Anybody have any Ideas?

Shoot the sequence in front of a blue/green screen and make the cloak out of the same color... key the color out and when he covers himself with the cloak, he disappears. play with it... you'll like it

Here's what I do. It works well if you do it right, and there is no blue/green to key out which can look sloppy.
First get your camera set up and really make sure it WON'T move. Hang a brick from the inside of the tripod or something so it will stay where you want it. Now set everything on the camera so it won't do anythin g automatically. Now, shoot you cloak guy doing his thing. Have him walk off, then continue shooting to get just background.
During this whole time the camera should not have been toughed and focus and light and everything should remain exactly as it is.
Okay, now digitize both clips. (in premiere) Make them the same length. Put the background on the S1 track. Okay here it is: When you want him to dissapear, just bring up the S1 track. With this method you can even make it so you can see him just a little bit.

Thanks, That premire trick sounds great.
could I add a sort of flash effect as well?
I guess it would be possible with photoshop, right? any Ideas?

yeah, speaking of photoshop, if you cant get the blue clothing to key out well, which can be problematic with the keyer that comes w/ after effects, I dunno about premiere, you could always save the thing as a filmstrip file and cuz it out manually.

Hello again. About that flash. Why yes, yes you can. Okay, here's wachagottado:
Use the raser tool and cut at the start and stop frames of the part of your clip you want to have the flash in.
In other words, go to the frame where you want the flash to start from and get bigger. Split it. Now go to the frame where you want the flash to finish. Split there.
So now you should have a clip of your guy doing his hood thing with two little raser cuts pretty close to each other (under 30 frames).
Now find about the middle of these two cuts and put a third cut.
(during this whole time the clip should remain together, just with little splices in it)
Now, click the newly made first clip (of the two) and go,
Clip > Filters... ___Select Lens Flare. Now you choose how the flare should be at the beginning and end of the clip.
For the beginning set it to lowest and right in the middle of the guy. (You will get a window where you can place the flare).
For the end, Place it in the same place and crank it up to something pretty high. Remember the number, though.
Now say okay.
Click the second newly created clip and choose lens flare again.
For the beginning, put the flare in the same place as before and set brightness to that number of the end of the last clip.
For the end, place it in the same place and turn it all the way down.
Click okay.
Render it.
You should get a quick flash, that when looked at carefully, quickly grows to a blinding glare, then just as quickly, shrinks down to nothing with your guy gone.
Do you follow me?
Are you confused out of your head?
I can clarify if necessary.

Note: Higher versions of Premiere than mine let you select many points for the lens flare intensity over time. If this is so, don't worry about it. All you need is start and stop.
