Really, if you can, try to switch over to after effects if it is just muzzle flashes. If it is lightsabers, stay with photoshop. If you learn how to in aftereffects, you won't have to convert your avi to an flm ( which is incrediblllllly huge). Not to mention, impossible to edit with. 30 seconds at 320x480 should be about 100megs minimum! Aftereffects, you can edit your avi as it streams. You just have to get used to the keyframer. If you have ever used 3dstudio, you would find it easy. If you haven't, it will take you five minutes. Take my advice.
If you don't, you take your avi in premiere. Open it so it appears, hit file-export. If it doesn't say export to flm file, then you have to change it in the settings. Be prepared to die.
Then open photoshop, then click import, or open, or whatever. Click on your flm file. And then it will appear in the bottom right of your screen under your layers. I think you then go window-create or something and then a fresh white blanc window opens and you drag your footage overtop. Then try your best to follow it.
Good luck,
Loring
