I'm making one of my first movies. There is a scene where we have a car chase (this works great with steadicam) after which the chased guys pull up into a wharehouse (which is also their garage). In the wharehouse there's a gunfight. I'm using a blue screen to put about ten mercedes in the background. Question 1.) can I do this in photoshop w/out using the blue screen? Question 2.) the guys use blan-firing .45's. Is there anything I can do to add a bit of a flame to eject from the barrel? If not big deal, it's okay the way it is. DefLoGik, you did that firing effect, didn't you? It looked like adding 2-frame lens flares on the barrel of the gun. (using premiere filmstrips, of course.) |

I think Deflogic, errr, DefSlayer did it by isolating the muzzle flash from james bond the n64 game, or the movie i forget. |

I'd really be interested in learning how to do that, but more importantly where to get it from. Thanx-Spock

You don't need a blue screen for the cars if they arn't moving. You can just cut one out and copy it many times in Photoshop. If you want people to run infront of the cars then you should set up a blue screen behind the actors and add the cars later. In both cases you should keep your camera locked off. As for mussle flashes... Look at any action movie with gun fights in them. Go frame by frame and see what a mussle flash looks like. They aren't that complicated. Use photoshop to paint in your own.

If you have a capture card, hook up your VCR or DVD player, then find a frame from a movie or video game with a muzzle flash that looks good. Capture that frame and bring it into Paintshop and cut it out using a mask. Then you can place it in your own scene. I think. I haven't done it, but I read it somewhere in this forum once. |

Im here boys. Yes I used footage of golden eye and i added a lens flare. It doesn't look that good but with some tweaking you could get it ro look pretty good. An example can be found in the matrix section of my webpage http://vfx.mainpage.net Hope this helps!!

Thanx a lot, I took a lot at that. Is from the movie? The white falsh looks like it's from the N64 game. How many frames does it last for? Another question, can I change the color of car in th background, that's assuming I have a picture of one?------------------ Live long and profit |
