I tried putting up the plot in detail, but it's way to confusing and bizarre, so here's the very main idea: A man steals the letters of the alphabet. The camera then buts into various people's conversations, and we see how the missing letters affect the conversations. There's a lot more to it than that, but this'll give you the main idea. E-mail me at xombie15@mail.com if you need more details!

Holy crap! I don't know about a live action film, but that sounds like a great idea for a short animated movie.

Holy crap as in "Hey, that's good", or "Is this kid on drugs?"

That sounds funny. I may have to steal it. Is this a short?

I have a superstition. Guard all my ideas except for a slect few people, produce the project, then the general public can see the results. Any clue why I'm so paranoid? Anyone?

To thx: Yeah, it is a short. But it's not a comedy, it's a drama. I know, it sounds like one and I don't care that you mistook it for one. I just have lots of haunting images in my head that'll make it disturbing, bleak and haunting.

There's actually a word for this: lipogram. A lipogram is a piece of writing that purposely excludes a letter of the alphabet. The most difficult as well as most common letter excluded is E. This has, AFAIK, never been applied to film/video, and I've always thought it would be a good idea. Your short movie almost sounds like a book I've read called "A Void", by Georges Perec, excluding E. It's not comedy, but drama, and is extremely clever in that it makes several references to the missing letter. I bought it at my local Barnes & Noble. Another lipogram: Gadsby (not to be confused with Gatsby. Check them out if possible, although they're a little hard to read. In my opinion, you've got a great idea on your hands. I've had some experience writing lipograms, so if you need help getting around not using a letter(s), e-mail me (e.g. you could send me a piece of dialog with all the letters intact, then I could revise it to not include particular letters).

This is a terrific idea. Get yourself a good script and this could be really amazing.

I thought of "A VOID" as well. Not just the lipogram (new vocabulary word! Who says the Internet makes ya stoopid?), but the sense of people not getting through to each other.

Okay, tomdonnelly, you've got a critical reader of your script if you're looking for one. I rarely do this, so if you're interested, email me at ohio@holytoledo.com. Get it ready, send it to me in email, and I'll send you back my notes.

If you're not interested in developing the idea, let me know, because I think I might. I won't touch it, though, unless you pass on it.

Good luck.

I wrote a similar script once after spilling orange soda on my keyboard...
