Ok I was wondering what would I use to put on my arm so geletin won't pull the hair on my arms. Would vasalin work or cooking oil. or what? Just wondering so I wouldn't have to shave my arms.

well, if you've done it already you probably pulled all the hair out. the things you mentioned would all keep anything from sticking so they're out...

what and how are you doing this, there may be something to help....

I am assuming that you are refering to using geletin in a semi-liquid effect to simulate a burn or what-not. In my past experience I have not had a problem with geletin sticking to my hair. Just make sure to wash up with warmer water than usual. If it does start to stick try cream makeup remover and make sure to pull in the same direction the hair is growing not against it.

Dissolve the gelatin to remove it from your skin when done. Dip the body part into a sink full of warm water until it softens enough to grab with a paper towel and pull free, then throw away. More warm water and soap should reove any residue left over. So long as the gelatin is soft enough, you should experience no hairs pulled loose.

Make sure to use a softening agent like glycerin in your formula. Sealing the gelatin skin construction with latex, plastic cap material, or flexible collodion will help it stay soft longer. Formulas using little or no water stay soft indefinitely.

Now I'm no expert ( in fact I have never used any appliances ) But would it be possible to wrap the part of your arm in saran wrap ( clear plastic used to cover food ) and put the gelatin on that so it can be re-used ?

Applying any kind of barier to the surface arm is going to interfere with the adhesion of the gelatin. The only reason I'd apply it to plastic wrap is if I were going to peel it off and glue it back down with a more powerful adhesive (Pros Aid, etc) as a step to skipping working on a lifecast. If removing gelatin is giving you a problem, stay away from medical adhesives, though!

Get a chemical meat tenderizer that contains the enzyme papayin (I think). Pinapple juice might also work. Breaks up the protiens in gelatin.

In theory, never needed gelatin off that bad.
