I'm looking for a few good all around Special Effects Makeup Artists to work with me on a very effects heavy film that is shooting in and around New York in the middle of January. The pay will be based on experience and we will be under a tight deadline, so if that type of pressure scares you, don't bother applying.
I would encourage all to send samples of your work to: Cinetech@juno.com
Some of the required effects that I'm designing now are: 6 sets of canine fangs, full vampire prosthetics for 6 vampires, an autopsy chest piece that shows the ribs and all internal organs, and animatronic Skeletal arm, and a bunch of other effects.
That's a tall order to complete by the middle of January, so contact me by email as soon as possible.

Here's your chance to get some (initial or additional) experience, folks! New Yorkers take heed (and possibly others?)

Cinetech, are you looking for on-site lab workers only or are you comfortable with out of state artists Fed Ex-ing their completed work to you for some of the work? Would you be comfortabl shipping out life casts for some of the work, or will the need for everything being integrated and the preproducton schedule make this too difficult?

Personally, I like to be able to take a peek over people's shoulders once or twice during the process, but you'll get more responses if some of the work can be mailed in when completed.

Best of Luck!

let me know how you end up doing the chest. i have a very similar effect planned for my film. i was thinking abut using a plastic medical skeleton, some sheets of latex and the frozen organs from a pig.

No, I can't have anyone doing long distance work and sending it to me because I have to closely supervise the creation of my designs.

For the opened chest effect, I am using castings of a real human rib cage, which I am sculpting to add all of detail of the torn areas, but for the guts, you really should'nt use real organs. For the intestines. I bought three long broom handles , which I coated with 15 coats of stippled on latex (Drying between each coat).
After those are dry, I powder and peel them off ( Powder the inside too) . I airbrush them with very thin washes of Grey, purples and Mauve colors and then fill them with a watery gelatine mixture and tie them off at the ends. They look totally realistic, even upon close inspection. For other realistic internal matter in the body, I take four large plexiglass sheets and lie them on my lab floor and stipple about six coats of latex over them, using three different tinted latexes (With food color) I make one a bright blood color, one a dark blood color, and one clear, with no color added. After its dry, I run my fingers over it , creating scores of holes and areas that look like viens and tendons. I then powder it (Both sides) as I peel it up. This stuff is great for stuffing into body cavities. I like to ta some of it and glue it up uner the ribs and strech it down into the mass of organs for a gross webbing effect.
