Topic: looking for an fx artist

hey guys i just started checking this site out and im hoping someone here might be willing to get their feet wet with a small film. I need some help finishing off some aliens as well as a spaceship that needs to be built and a human head with a large hole in it if any one is willing to work on this small film(sorry guys no pay, i will buy the materials) let me know------------------

This will be shooting in the LA area, I take it?For a better response, mention as many relevant details as possible:
- When will shooting commence, when will you need which props?
- Will there be any compensation at all? (you mention paying for materials), screen credit, copies of the fininshed movie for the artist's show reel, etc.
- Do you need some or all of the work done on site or can the artist do the work and mail it to you at your expense?
- Budgetary restrains - what is a ballpark figure for what you can afford? Some of us can build an alien for $30 or $4,500 in materials depending on the degree of detail, scale, and the capabilities (movement, expressions, automation, etc.) that the costume/make up/puppet is going to end up having.
- Does the head have to resemble an actor or can it be generic?

thanks for the reply and insight jeff f. yes the project will be shot in the la area and yes copy and credit would be provided.as for the aliens most of the build has been done juct some painting of hand and feet to match the heads the coustume is still being hammered out so there is still work to be done on that end. a silicone head has also have to be made(lifecast,clay pour,tweak,mold,run part,paint,hair work,)on set work and the space ship. I would much rather work with some one in town as i would need to see that all is going acc. to plan. I hope to get a reply from some motivated person who would like to get involved they dont have to be that knolegable in efx just motivated ,I can teach them skill I cant teach them desire. |
