Well maybe a quick clay sculpt of one, plaster mold and gelatin. All pretty quick and easy. You may try a medical training supply place - you know the kind that sell anatomical dummies and such. Maybe some Halloween site that sells good masks has something such as this already made. But quick look around will tell the tale.IF you need help ask. FXMan

That's it WEF - couldn't remember the name of that place. Boy does HE have inventory. I bought some things from him like his first year or so in business - this was like probably more than 5 or 6 years ago and now his inventory is HUGE. He must be doing something right. Nice guy too and good business to deal with. Thanks for the name. There are a few other places like that but none with as extensive an inventory as his.FXMan |

Turns out building building one out of Play-Doh isn't so bad |

You know, a much used child's toy but not a bad idea for some things in a pinch. GOOD idea. Creative minds see - that's all it takes. Thinking is a good thing and when budgets are low, PlayDoh ain't a bad tool to use. Plus if it's safe enough for children....well why not. Good idea.FXMan |

For a Haunted House many moons ago we needed some internal organs lying about and we needed them immediately. I sculpted some quickly in plastecine, mixed acrylic artist's paint into latex, and we painted them with the latex.A blow drier was used to force dry the latex. We added some fake blood and in very short order we had the required carnage. None of it would have moved properly or stood up to much handling, but it worked for an ultra-fast stationary prop. ------------------ Jeff F - Moderator Magic and FX Amazing the Masses |

Ummm, you could go to a butcher shop and buy a real cow kidney. That's what I would do. |

We've discussed the use of real animal organs numerous times on the boards before. Due to the breakdown of organic tissues (rotting, blood engorged tissue) and chance of spreading disease (bacteria, blood borne pathogens) we don't reccomend using them, except as models to be molded for producing castings before discarding the originals. While Tom Savini likes to use a few real sections of well scrubbed and disinfected animal intestine amidst his rubber innards, the practice has a health risk and at the very least can cause significant odor problems. Simply put: real stuff goes bad and can make you sick. ------------------ Jeff F - Moderator Magic and FX Amazing the Masses |

I had considered using a real organ, but since I had no good way to store it until the shoot, I opted for play-doh. I hope to hope to have the clip regarding this kidney up on my website by next week. http://www.geocities.com/moronictheatre/ |
