Hiyas. Haven't posted in a while cause I haven't had much to say. Yes folks, this is quite a revelation. The immortal 'Karo syrup' has just started to be imported from America to here. It's a little expensive (AUS$4.00 a bottle, 470ml) but it's damned good. The other disadvantage is that it only seems to come in (shudder) Caramel flavor, and no unflavored varieties (or decent flavors for that matter.....). So, all Australians rejoice! No more searching for alternatives for Corn Syrup. We can now use the real thing!! Muncher. ------------------

Nifty! So long as it is Light Corn Syrup (slightly yellow tinge but transparent), you're all set! You're dying it red, not eating it. It isn't too hard to find in quarts or even gallons in the US, but any access to light corn syrup is a boon to low budget film makers everywhere. ------------------ Jeff F - Moderator Magic and FX Amazing the Masses |

Where so you live Muncher? Because I live in Melbourne and I bought Karo Light Corn Syrup (470mL) from my local Coles Supermarket. Its not flavoured or anything, but is was still expensive at $4.99 a bottle. It works great though!FYI for Australians.... Its imported by Exclusive Food House 181 Chesterville road, Moorabbin, Victoria 3189. Hope this helps someone!!!! |

With the hopes of LAS & MG to continue growing as an international resource, we'd like to keep LAS as all-inclusive as possible. Heck, if you aussies weren't stuck in here with us yanks (and others), we wouldn't benefit as much from that down under perspective you have to offer!Worse yet we'd have to rely on Foster's Beer commercials for our Austrailian slang. Arg! We're glad to have all of you as mates. ------------------ Jeff F - Moderator Magic and FX Amazing the Masses |

DK: I live in Reservoir, which is out Preston/Bundorra way. I've only been able to find the dark flavoured kind. Yeah, $4.99 is rather expensive, but it's better than using Golden Syrup, Honey or Maple Syrup. WAY WAY better.CVG: Import tax is expensive. And by the way - people talk use so much American slang over here, the only difference is pretty much the accents. It's surprising how few people use the word mate, and when they do it's usually to try and provoke someone. *sigh* Muncher. ------------------

You mean "Lenny Loosejocks" and it's sequel "Lenny Loosejocks in Space" on www.shockwave.com? Yeah, that's kind of nice. |

I didn't realise it was so hard to find. I live in Synday and have been able to get the clear kind for more than a year. It's about $3 a bottle I think. |

I agree, you must REALLY live in a strange part of Australia! I live in a town with a population of 400, and we have had some of that stuff in the pantry for years and years! But anyway, great that you have access to it now! We used it in a film a year or 2 ago and it is very good! |
