Here's a question to some of the make up wizards..I've never found a really good way to prepare a person with a head of long, thick, somewhat kinky hair for a bald cap. My usual way is to simply use a lot of hair gel to get the hair to lay down flat but it doesn't work very well with long, thick hair. Can anyone recommend a technique or product that will work well? I think Tom Savini likes to use bars of hand soap that has been converted to a paste by soaking in water. I can imagine that "soaping" out someones hair might work but that it would also be damaging to the hair and scalp. Any suggestions?? |

Remember alot of people have streak and dyed hair.....like me....so that soap idea prolly wouldn't be the best in a situation like that......go out to your local salon and by Joico ICE.....its the BEST gel around....a little expensive.......but it works GREAT!------------------ The Film Stoppa! There is a product called GAFQUAT which I think is the resin base that is used in most hairsprays. It's like lacquering someone's hair down with the stuff so I'm told. And if you have a Sally's Beauty Supply there, you may find it there. As well I think it simply shampoos out with water as any hairspray would. It's really stiff stuff. As well you could try a super strong hairspray. I know of one that is unbelieveable - called FREEZE-IT. This is some stiff stuff too and works to keep problem hair flattened down pretty well. Worse comes to worse, you can do the soap routine but that takes so long and makes it a little difficult for the glue you would use to adhere well as it should.Beyond that you can also try some specific pommade for flattening down the kinky hair common on African Americans. I hope this gives you some added ammo. Good luck. FXMan P.S. Meant to tell you that GAFQUAT is manufactured by Monsanto Corporation, I think. If you need to contact them let me know. I can dig out their contact info. [This message has been edited by FXMan (edited 02-14-2001).] |
