I've got an iMac DV special edition and was wondering if anyone knew of any editing programs that would work well on it. I downloaded a beta version of Premiere, but when I played the demo the video would get out of sinc and get choppy with quick flashes of still frames. -Zumdahl |

iMAC DV comes with a free editing program from apple called iMOVIE. It should be included on the CD that came with the iMAC. I heard it was a very good editing program. iMOVIE is made just for firewire and DV. The reason Premiere is a bit choppy and wierd is because it isn't fully firewire/DV yet. The Premiere 5.1c update is more made for DV but still is not quite there yet. If your looking for just editing stick with iMOVIE. If your wanting to do crazy effects and compsiting you'll want Premiere 5.1 with the 5.1c update. |

IMOVIE you have on your hard drive already.Take into consideration how much memory you have on your imac DV system, low memory can foul up your editing suites pretty quick. More memory = less snags. I hear really good things about imovie, and your next step from imovie would be apples Final Cut Pro, which I've used and really like. Hope this helps. ------------------ Scott www.ondv.com

Thanks for the feedback. I have used iMovie and it's o.k. I can paste clips together, sound, add some transitions and titles but I'm looking for special FX software that would function well on my iMac. Final cut pro looks nice but it's a lot pricier compared to premiere and after effects. Thanks for the posts,Zumdahl |
