I have a pentium 3 system with 128 mb RAM and a 7200 rmp Hard disk. For capturing, I use an ATI All In Wonder Pro PCI 8mb Version. I capture at 640x480 24fps. THE QUALITY IS HORRIBLE! I don't know why, but it is. (Even when I used a digital camcorder!) I would like to know of a card that will capture 640x480 24fps, (compatible with my above hardware) and not loose ANY (or only a SMALL amount) of quality. Thanks, MovieDirector |

Use a Studio DC10+, these run about $200 and do just fine S-VHS quality. I've even run footage off a VX1000 from the analog into one of these and it still looked great. A minor point, though. You should probably be capturing at 30 fps, not 24. 24 is for film, 30 is the North American video standard. Of course I'm assuming you're in North America, but there you are. ------------------ Doug Spice Mojumbo Jambalaya Productions Los Angeles, CA |

So you are saying if I get the externall studio dc10+ from pinicale system I can capture at 640x480 30fps?????? Sorry, to ask this, but I have been told so many things by sooo many tech people and other people I am fed up! But I can capture at 640x480 30fps on a pentium 3 system with 128MB RAM and a 7200 rmp hard drive? Thanks, Moviedirector |

if u have a digital camera get the DV200, its firewire and will capture at 720 x 480, which is full screen |

Try to change the settings on the card you have now to capture at 30fps, im sure you can do that. If you capturing NTSC video at PAL or film speeds of course its gunna look crap.Dale Jenner |

problem solved, I bought a *Dazzle. I LOVE IT! Just one question, whenever I capture something, does it save it as mpeg so I can use it in media studio pro 5.2? Thanks, MovieDirector |

Umm... your problem is probably that most camcorders, digital or otherwise, record at 29.97 fps. If you don't capture at that speed, then you're going to have quality issues |

I don't know if it makes any difference, but the actual frame rate for video is, I believe, 29.97fps.. hardly any difference.Isaiah |

Well, I guess you solved your problem already, but I'll go ahead and clarify anyway.Studio DC10+ is not external, it is a PCI slot card which I have had no problem capturing full-res 30 fps on a system almost identical to the one you describe (albeit, you didn't describe much). As for the 29.97 fps issue, well, I've never encountered a problem with that - I used it with Premiere, which has a 29.97 capture setting. Don't know about MSP or other products, though. Other than that, go digital if you can afford it. It's so much easier unless you somehow end up with another system conflict. Oh, and I would never buy an ATI video product - they seem to like lagging behind the pack. The All-in-Wonders are tempting because they have so many features, but like all other ATI video cards, they're nowhere near as fast as the competition, or as pretty, or... well enough ranting. Basically, unless you're out of PCI slots (which is a bad thing, by the way :Q) don't buy any of the do-everything video cards... each component is usually worse than a specific competitor. That post was much longer than I originally intended. ------------------ Doug Spice Mojumbo Jambalaya Productions Los Angeles, CA http://mojumbo.n3.net
