I don't get it (maybe I'm just stupid), but how did they edit that video and get it to a digital format without the aide of a capture card. Maybe they meant they just took it in directly through firewire or something (and that's like a capture card). I'm confused |

Im am also confused. To get it from a camera/vcr into a computer it needs to be hooked up to a computer. And to my knowledge capture or firewire card is the only way.Maybe he means he used already captured footage on someones machine that didn't have a capture card and edited it. Explain please. |

If they used Firewire, how can I get in on it? I was thinking about getting a capture card, but if this is cheaper, I'm taking that route. |

Firewire is only an alternative if you are using a digital format such as DVCAM or MiniDV. If you do get a firewire, get a good firewire capture card such as the DV200. |

welcome to the most uninformative post I'd ever seen. I'm going to hold my breath till someone (chaos) clarifies what he's talking about.------------------ "I like to see things as I remember them, not as they were." -Bill Pullman "Lost Highway" |

the secret to this puzzling question is called a digital camera. Not one that you hold in your hands put one of the camera that sits on top of your computer!!!!!!!!!!!! i can get great images with it and it is really inexpensive. i just hook up my camera (USB) to my laptop and go where ever ther action is!!!!!!! thats it its that simple |

Yeah, but why buy one of those little, crappy camera when for a little bit more you could have a cheap capture card (the DC10+). Plus, those cameras have no where near the capabilities of consumer camcorders. |

and secondly, the frame rate u get with one of those is similar to a slide show. forget about output to tv, or any sort of sincere presentation. its fine for people who want to screw around and have fun. for those of us who are serious, there are capture cards w/output and a good camcorder. good luck carrying your laptop around with that little slide-show camera when u have to shoot a movie. have fun. |

I think Chaos did something good here. Not good, great. He took very limited resources and completely undaunted by that he made something creative and imaginative and original. It may not suit everyones needs. But it can suit the needs of some. You want to creat and on a budget a really really slim budget. Chaos has touched on a way to do so.------------------ "I like to see things as I remember them, not as they were." -Bill Pullman "Lost Highway" |

Yeah, I guess, that is what this forum is about. Chaos's video is the lowest low budget you can get |

Man if I would have know noone else had suggested this first I would have. That is how I did my first (well now that I think about it's my only) lightsaber test. The reason I even thought about doing it was to actually use it in conjunction with netmeeting to take snapshots for a stop motion project I was working on (and am still working on.) But then I found some free capture software off the net and decided to play around with making a movie. The quality sucks but hey it satisfies me while I work on getting the money for a better camera. Also it brings in a really small resolution (160X120) which helps for keeping the project small and easier to work on. |
